A common theme in my artwork is nature and I am inspired by the complexity and beauty of it. I’m drawn to living organisms, natural elements, and the wonder of change that surrounds me. When creating art, I look closely and focus on line, form, tone and color. It’s truly a study, and a form of meditation that allows me to see details I would have overlooked otherwise. That beauty, those details that make everything unique, is what I work to convey in each piece. Selected works from my art portfolio follow.

Good morning Caroline,
I wrote this email because I saw your webpage and was really interested in your two drawings: CHICKADEE BIRD DRAWING #1 and BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE #2. I was wondering if you could tell me what inspired you to draw them. I am an IB student, and I chose you as an artist who inspired me to create my new piece, so it would be great if you could answer this message!
Thank you,
Maria Gracia Espinosa

Hi Maria,
I apologize for my delay in response. I just saw your comment and I’m so happy to hear that my artwork inspired you!
What has inspired me to draw these two Chickadee birds are my passion for watching and listening to them and the memories I associate with watching Chickadees.
I have a backyard bird feeder, which attracts many different birds, and the Chickadees have always gotten my attention because of their simple, elegant black and white contrast, and soft, recognizable song. Plus they are adorable — small, cute and fluffy. Since Chickadees stay in Ohio during the winter, they are one of the birds I get to enjoy all year long. It’s a great pleasure to hear and see them when so many other birds migrate south and disappear over the cold months.
I have many happy memories watching Chickadees. They are more comfortable around people than many other shy birds. They’re not easily scared away and I’ve been able to watch them up close. Watching Chickadees and listening to them with my daughter is always a joy.
These birds can become so tame that they will eat seed out of your hand. I haven’t experienced that yet, but hope to someday.
I hope this has helped and I would love to see your artwork.
Thanks for the feedback and keep in touch!
